Workshop

Perinatal Pelvic Floor for Birth Professionals

This 3 hour workshop is designed for care providers working with the perinatal population including Doula’s, Midwives, Physiotherapist & Registered Massage Therapists, Registered Nurses, Kinesiologists and Personal Trainers, and the like. 
 
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
  • Understand the functional anatomy of the pelvic floor and it’s relevant connections related to pregnancy, labour & delivery, and post-partum including common conditions
  • Understand the impact of breath, posture, and positioning on pelvic floor/ core function, relaxation and strength
  • Understand the core, diastasis recti, how it relates to pelvic floor and what to do to help
  • Understand the difference between various pregnancy belts
  • Personalize and provide relevant education materials to clients including activity guidelines, normal healing times, treatment options available, when to seek care, and more.

Pelvic Health Clinical Mentorship

Starting a practice as a new graduate or entering into a new practice area can be a daunting task. Having mentors within your focused clinical field can amplify your practice, increase your hands-on skills, clinical reasoning and confidence.

This individualized and self-directed mentorship program is open to all rostered Physiotherapists who work with pelvic health patients. Whether you want to review cases, brainstorm patient care ideas, discuss business development, or learn new clinical skills, reasoning and/or differential diagnosis, we can make it tailored to meet your specific wants and needs. Possible option to shadow clinical care. 

Learn with two of the most sought after pelvic health physiotherapists in Ottawa, with a combined 20+ years experience within private practice and pelvic health, including pre and postnatal care, as well as applied pelvic health for chronic pain and athletic populations.

Pre-requisites:

  • Independent Practice certificate from any provincial College
  • College Rostering for Internal Pelvic Assessments and Treatments.
  • Ability to join both in person and virtually.

Pelvic Health Supervision & Mentorship

Build your pelvic health competency, confidence and caseload with support from our experienced and highly trained clinicians while you complete your Residency. 

More than just ensuring patient safety and completing the paperwork for full licensure, our Supervisors bring diverse patient care and clinical knowledge, as well as business acumen that can significantly and positively impact your skill development, patient outcomes and caseload growth.  These are not things we were taught in school and are essential to the new landscape of private health care. 

Pre-requisites:

  • Provisional Practice certificate from College of Physiotherapists of Ontario (CPO)
  • CPO Rostering for Internal Pelvic Assessments and Treatments.
  • Ability to join both in person and virtually.
4 session series

Pelvic Health Clinical Mentorship

This 4-month mentorship program is open to all rostered Physiotherapists who work with pelvic health patients. We will focus on expanding perspectives beyond the pelvis, integrating all systems and learning how the entire body can impact pelvic health concerns, while also providing guidance on more direct treatment of the root(s) of clients concerns.

Co-created and taught by Andrea Plitz & Lisa Flanders, this unique mentorship opportunity will allow you to learn with two of the most sought after pelvic health physiotherapists in Ottawa. With a combined 20 years experience within private practice and pelvic health, including pre and postnatal care, as well as applied pelvic health for chronic pain and athletic populations. We will meet as a group for 4 hours, monthly in-person with the option of attending virtually if necessary. Sessions will be recorded and made available.

  • College Rostering for Internal Pelvic Assessments and Treatments.
  • Ability to join both in person and virtually.
