Dr. Laura Smith

CLINIC DIRECTOR, Naturopathic Doctor

Dr. Laura believes the path to healing is through empowerment. She encourages her patients to play an active role in their healing journey by teaching, rather than “telling,” treatment plans. She wants to ensure that all those who step into her office feel heard, understood, and safe.

Seeing a large gap in education about women’s own bodies, Dr. Laura has taken a special interest in further learning about women’s reproductive health. During her internship, she was selected to be part of the first Reproductive Health Focus Shift at the Robert Schad Naturopathic Clinic (Toronto), where her passion for fertility and pre/postnatal health grew.

Her own personal experience and challenges with breastfeeding have only deepened Laura’s passion and commitment to protecting, promoting and supporting breastfeeding and infant feeding.

Kristy Schmekel

Originally from Vancouver, British Columbia, Kristy grew up by the ocean and will tell you that water simply holds a piece of her soul. It goes without saying that the most important role for Kristy is being a mother of two amazing girls.

In her early twenties Kristy found a love for fitness that has never waivered. In 2012 she decided to undergo her 200 HR Yoga Teacher Training and that ignited a passion that became a full time career. Having 10 years of experience teaching yoga and movement she gravitates towards finding ways to keep bodies moving with both strength and mobility. She has continued to expand on her yoga knowledge by taking courses in various disciplines but will surely tell you that her favourite workshops were Functional Range Conditioning (FRC ™) and education in foot health.

She believes that if we step outside of our comfort zone we are provided a chance to see what might be hidden and if we acknowledge what is hiding then have the opportunity to cultivate change and a strong body is one that has choice over its movements.

Bianca Breiding

naturopathic graduate

Bianca got introduced to naturopathic medicine at the end of her 4 th year of university and instantly felt in alignment with the principles shared within the naturopathic community. She then completed her studies at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto. During her time there, she became fascinated by how the power of diet, nutraceuticals and the mind can have on one’s health. Bianca believes that medicine should not solely be about extending one’s life but of improving one’s quality of life. Everyone deserves to feel their best and it is Bianca’s mission to support, educate and empower her patients to achieve their goals. Bianca takes a whole-body approach and likes to investigate the root cause of concerns while also managing one’s symptoms. She has a keen interest in women’s hormonal health, digestive and metabolic health, as well as those experiencing low mood, fatigue and skin concerns. Bianca is currently working under the supervision of Dr. Laura Smith ND while she works on obtaining her naturopathic license.
