Yoga for Mental Health Series

WITH TORI HALL, RYT

Join any or all parts of this 4 part series as Tori leads you through ways in which we can use the practice of yoga, on and off the mat, to reduce stress and improve well-being.  

Tori skillfully incorporates her background in yoga, psychotherapy and mental health research to increase your understanding of gratitude, mindfulness, non-attachment, and the breath. 

Each 75-minute workshop will cover one topic accompanied by journaling and a gentle slow yoga flow.

March 28th, 2024 | 6:00 – 7:15pm: Gratitude (Registration full – waitlist only)

April 25th, 2024 | 6:00 – 7:15 pm: Mindfulness (body, feelings, thought)

October 10th, 2024 | 6:00 – 7:15pm: Non-attachment (let go, let in, let be)

November 7th, 2024 | 6:00 – 7:15pm: Breath (letting go) & yin

Pilates

WITH ELKE KASANDA

Pilates Instructor

Pilates is a unique movement therapy consisting of low impact exercises designed to strengthen and elongate muscles, focusing on postural symmetry and core control. Completed on the mat, with some props and tools (provided), Pilates facilitates optimal movement of the spine, hips and shoulders, muscular flexibility, joint mobility and strength. The objective is a body that is both strong and graceful.

Elke brings her diverse teaching background of yoga, tai chi, meditation, and advanced therapeutically-focused Pilates training to each class, progressively supporting people to regain and thrive with movement. 

This 6 week series is perfect for those looking for their next step in their movement journey, maybe have completed a Group Physio Class series, and are ready for a more challenging yet supportive movement practice.

Prenatal Workshop

WITH SARAH TROTTIER, PT

This 2 hour workshop is designed for women at any stage of pregnancy, even pre-conception, who want to learn more about how they can stay active and healthy throughout pregnancy, prepare for delivery to optimize outcomes, and assist in their recovery and return to activities postpartum.

Created and taught by local women’s and Pelvic Health Physiotherapists, this class will provide information on anatomy, common conditions and treatment options with a focus on pelvic and abdominal/core health (more than just kegels & planks), the importance of breath, as well as integrating movement and embodiment exercises to aid with pregnancy, birth and recovery postpartum.

May be covered by private health benefits. Conditions apply

POP UPS

All are welcome to participate!

Please arrive a few minutes early. Bring an open mind as well as any questions you might have about pelvic health and physiotherapy (Q&A time included).

In an effort to bring accessible health education and care to our local communities, these Pop Ups are Pay What You Can (with a recommended Donation of $10 or $20/Family). All proceeds will be going to Bloom’s Pay It Forward Fund, which provides subsidized pelvic health Physiotherapy to low income, new Canadian, and young or Indigenous women through the perinatal period. Thank you for your generosity.

Understanding what the pelvic floor is and how it functions is vital for your health!

Created and taught by local pelvic health Physiotherapists, Natalie Morris & Nicole Petis, this 60 minute workshop is aimed to:

– Increase knowledge and awareness about the pelvic floor and its function

– Learn about the basics of your cycle

– Learn how to chose the best option for flow management and

– Learn how you can begin to create ease of common symptoms with simple self-care tools and strategies.

  • Increase knowledge and awareness about the pelvic floor (& core),
  • How it relates to the rest of the body, and
  • How you can create ease of common symptoms with simple self-care tools and strategies.

All are welcome to participate, and be tailored for those who may experience painful periods and bladder leaks, core dysfunction or bowel concerns; or those who are prenatal to anytime postnatal, or looking for general wellness.

In an effort to bring accessible health education and care to our local communities, these Pop Ups Pay What You Can (with a recommended Donation of $20 per participant).
